There is so much to do in the Ao Nang and Krabi area that it is difficult to cover everything here. This is just a flavour.
Beaches and Island Hopping
The beaches and islands around Ao Nang are world famous for their beauty. This is the scenery so impressed people in the films ‘The Beach’, and ‘The Man with the Golden Gun’ - with the tall imposing limestone karsts and white sand beaches below. There are several good beaches along the mainland shore near
to Na Thai Estates, the most famous being Ao Nang and Nopparat Thara which are both long sandy beaches with tourist shops, restaurants and bars on the road behind. The beach at Railay can be reached by a brief long tailed boat ride. Railay is still part of the mainland, but is only accessible by boat. Railay has bars
and restaurants, and a few shops. This is the place to go rock climbing, or kayaking. You can reach the island beaches by long tailed or speed boat from Ao Nang or Nopparat Thara. The closer islands - Chicken Island, Ko Poda and Ko Tub, are just 20 minutes boat ride away, and are perfect for lazing , swimming and snorkeling. To feel special, hire your own boat for the
day, and hop between the islands at will. To get to the Phi Phi Islands you need to take a ferry, or a speed boat. Tours leave Ao Nang fairly often, and it is well worth the trip.
There are literally hundreds of beaches and lots more islands to explore.
